Why?
We Gambians need to create a much stronger sense of community and
togetherness amongst our nationals residing in the United Kingdom. The
overriding consideration in the creation of this Association is to
encourage a sense of belonging; in addition to providing as much
assistance to its community and being as informative as possible.
We all have very demanding lives to manage and that leaves us with very
little time to meet up with fellow Gambians and mingle, but a service like
ukgambians.com will give everyone an opportunity to meet up and share views,
jokes and discuss current issues concerning our community. The main reason
for setting it up online is to make its accessibility as convenient as
possible for everyone.
This site will provide you
with up-to-date information about issues concerning those of you residing in
the UK regardless of status. Whether you are considering coming to the UK or
already live here, our aim is to make this site your one-stop-shop for all
your information needs.
Ukgambians will also promote
awareness and educate the young, about the serious impact that contracting
AIDS/HIV is having on families and communities at large. We will also seek
to promote social functions, in addition to sustaining a lively Gambian
cultural identity.
Ukgambians.com is apolitical and
independent.
There will be a monthly
newsletter to be sent electronically advising latest news, events and
promotions for all the Gambians in UK, so please check your emails
regularly.
