Beauty of the year 07 |
Daddy
Elie:
How young are you if you don't mind?
Chilel:
25
Daddy
Elie:
Occupation?
Chilel:
Student and
a
businesswoman namely in African Fashion & Beauty Products.
Daddy
Elie:
Lady chilel that’s the name of Gambia’s Ex-first lady, were you
named after her and would you like to be first lady one day?
Chilel:Yes. I was named after her and being a first lady
myself would be great because it help me realise my dreams, especially the
opportunity to work with orphans, widows, unemployed youth, old helpless people
and the socially underprivileged. I will have the chance to help a lot at the
same time be a good wife and mother.
Daddy
Elie:
How did it feel being nominated and going on to win the SeneGambia
Awards Beauty of the year award?
Chilel: It was great,
but at the
same time humbling, it was a competition and every nominee was hoping for
what I have achieved in the end. I would like to confess that this is the second
time I’ve won a beauty title. The first one was some years back at home in
Calabash night club where I won Miss Super Thiof. Thanks to the Almighty for
bringing success on my side all these years. “Masallah”
Daddy
Elie: What does it mean to you?
Chilel:
It was a great experience and challenge on the other
hand. Beauty
for me has always been more about the interior, what one might term inner
beauty, than physical out look. Therefore if we make the effort to think and
feel beautiful, we'd all be the happier for it. All the nominees for this
category are beautiful in their own right and are deserved winners too As the
saying goes ‘we win as a team or loose as a team’. Without the other nominees,
how could I have won? So bravo to all my fellow nominees! And I take this
opportunity as well to thank all my well wishers for the support & votes. Ditto
to the event organisers!
Daddy Elie: What do
you think of the SeneGambia Awards?
Chilel: I would like to hail the organisers for their
constructive thinking, because there is more to the awards than just the
glamour. By this i mean the awards will help strengthen the bond between the two
countries and at the same time regroup a split Senegambian society in the
diaspora. President Jammeh being part of it is a clear manifestation of love and
Loyalty to our country. WELL DONE I WOULD SAY TO Waka j promotion
Daddy
Elie:
Would you do Miss Gambia or Senegambia? Yes or No: And Why?
Chilel:.
I don’t think I can go that that far. It was a
wonderful experience with the award and all the countless compliments from all
over Europe, Africa and United States. The answer is NO. Even the miss super
thiof was not my plan it just happened that I one day walked into calabash night
club with the former miss Gambia (ASTOU NJIE) after having a wonderful dinner
with my brother in law Samuel and wife Rose. As we were in the club chilling I
heard my name call amongst the winners and the award was presented to me by
Astou njie herself. I was so surprised, but I had no choice but to walked up the
platform and received.
Daddy
Elie: Beauty is a burden. True or false? And Why ?
Chilel: False,
in my opinion. It’s only a burden when one lets it take centre-stage in ones
life i.e. making it the be-all n end-all, and depending on it to get by.
Daddy
Elie:
How do you deal with it?
Chilel:
Interesting question. Being humble, showing respect
to others and taking things as they come. A girl has nothing but her self esteem
and she needs it all the time.
Daddy
Elie:
What was the best complement you’ve ever got from a man?
Chilel: That I was the
Goddess of youth and beauty.
Daddy
Elie:
Long hair or short hair?
Chilel: Long hair.
Daddy
Elie:
Birth sign?
Chilel:
CAPRICORN;
THE PASSIONATE LOVER LOVES TO BURST NICE, SASSY INTELLIGENT, SEXY PREDICTING,
IRRESISTIBLE, LOVE BEING IN LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS AND A GREAT TALKER. ALWAYS
GETS WHAT HE/SHE WANTS. KOOL, LOVES TO WIN GEMINI IN SPORTS, EXTREMELY FUNNY,
LOVES TO JOKE, SMART…
Daddy
Elie: What is your type of man?
Chilel: The Classic man. Intelligent, Caring, Humble and
Faithful.
Daddy
Elie:
Your Favourite Music,
Artist And why?
Chilel:
Ndaga is my favourite but i listen to a bit of
everything depending on my mood. My favourite artist and star is BEYONCE. I
don't just love her music but also the fact that she is my embodiment of the
independent, beautiful successful woman. As we say in Wollof “Dafa am Faida!”
Daddy
Elie: Cinema, night club or theatre?
Chilel: I am
more into Cinema but i have recently developed a keen interest in theatre. I
also do raving from time to time.
Daddy
Elie:
What are your career ambitions and how do
you plan to realise them?
Chilel:
I am in university doing business information
systems, had a break and went off to Africa after some years away. I spent time
with my family especially my mother, my love. My being in Africa has taught me
lots of great things I couldn’t realise whilst in Europe like developing my
skills in media, wanting to be a journalist in the near future and having an
information technology background to round things up.
Daddy
Elie:
Word of thanks?
Chilel: First of all I thank the Almighty for making us
live to see this day, My lovely mum for all she does for me, My sisters and
friends for their priceless support in whatever I do. Big thanks and bravo to
all the organisers of this successful event and I hope we will all live to
witness a bigger better award ceremony next year. And ukgambians.com for their
good job towards the Senegambia community. Merci!!!!!!!
