Senegal is the
home of almost an uncountable number of artists, from Singers,
Percussionists, Guitarists, Choreographers to Rappers, you name it… But
to find an artist gifted with all the qualities, talent and attributes
that make up a legendary artist could be quiet a task. Well in Masane
and the Waflash Band you can find it all.
To start with
MASANE, what you get is a talented beautiful young gifted and black lady
who from her natural dreadlocks down to her toes is a stunningly
gorgeous songster who could melt anybody’s heart be it a man or woman
young or old. With a voice that sounds like the tone of a flute and a
great talent in playing the guitar plus being a wicked performmer. She
is by far the greatest female artist Senegal has ever produced.
A good band is
always a good band and with WAFLASH you don’t have to be Simon or an
Xfactor judge to work out what a great band they are. From the
Percussionists to the Guitarists, Drummer to the Tama Player, all you
get is quality to the finest that reflects on the standard of Mbalax
they deliver.
On Saturday the
24th of June, Joluv Nite Club ( Club EQ ) was the scene of
what was dubbed a ‘Mbalax Extravaganza’ by many. The fairly packed JNC
crowd worked out to a ratio of 1man to 3ladies (1man:3ladies) making
“MOKO YORR” 2006 a night of sing-alongs and sexy dancing specially
stimulated by Senegals’ finest dancer and performer, the beautiful,
light skined long hair OUMOU SOW. Who displayed a spectacular performance
that set almost everybody on their dancing shoes and kicking their
grooves on all night.
Fans were
entertained with ballad after ballad including most of the popular once,
the big hit ‘SIN CE RITY’ and some unreleased songs.
Also featured was
an upcoming male artist who delivered a wonderful performance and goes
by the name Yves Niang. Take it from me this guy is really worth
watching because he definitely appeals to the ladies and you know what
that means.
Overall the show
was a very good one except for sound quality which was by any standard
below good, but the quality of entertainment MASANE and the WAFLASH BAND
delivered over shadowed it all, which was evident in the crowds’
reluctance to see the show finished by requesting for last piece
for about 3 times. But after the second request for a last piece Masane
had to say bye for what goes up must come down and for every good show
there must be a last piece.
MOKO YORR 2006
was yet another trademark entertainment by Waka J Promotions.
Watch Out for an
exclusive MASANE interview soon.
