Mohawk might sound like a very nice hairdo to you, if you haven’t  been following developments in the Gambian music scene from back in the 90s to the present day. But for those who have, it is without a doubt the name of one of Gambia’s hottest Rappers ever.

Born Mohammed kah, a.k.a Mo Hawk or simply Mo, rose to fame in the late 90s when he made his name in the game as a member of the Da fugitivz. One of the greatest Hip-Hop Rap groups Gambia has ever produced.

His definition-defying aggressive delivery styles in both English and Wollof slang with a touch of swagger and hardcore dressing, earned him a reputation for spitting some of the hottest stuff in the game. In 1999 he won an award for “Rapper of the year” at the First ever Gambia Music award @ Jama Hall.

Recently Mohawk  moved back to his beloved country, The Gambia and started his own Recording studio, THE BLOCK ENT STUDIO which is taking the country by storm and has already started pumping new "riddims" into the market. With a decade of musical experience under his sleeves, Mohawk creates a catchy synergy of west meets Africa which is reflected in most of his work and is taking the present underground Gambian musical revolution to a new level.

As a rapper, DJ, Songwriter, CEO of his own record label THE BLOCK ENT. STUDIO, and a radio show host and producer. He has positioned himself to be the next phenomenal contributor to Gambian music.

Recording not only as a member of the fugitivz group but also as a solo artist and leading the game in producing the sickest new multi-dimensional Afro-western fusions ever heard. According to him, his upcoming solo album is going to be a global collaboration.
