After
a three-month sucessful tour in Europe which covered Sweden, Germany and
Austria, The Gambia's undisputed international reggae-dancehall star,
Singateh aka Freaky Joe, returned to Banjul on Tuesday, December 4.
The young Singateh left Banjul on September 28 with three
members of his crew for Sweden and made his first gig at Club Jeriko in
Malmo, the third largest city in Sweden. He was received upon arrival at the
Stockholm Arlanda Airport by Pa Njie of Onegambia Promotions.
Many music enthusiasts described the young solo star as an
exceptional beacon of hope in the country's dancehall-reggae. Others classed
him as another budding Akon, the Senegalese born R & B celebrity.
Freaky has already sealed a new deal with Stuggart-based
company called Mega Force Records, in Germany, which contracts artists to
produce their albums, distribute and also help in marketing them.
In a chat with What's On, Singateh described his tour as a
fruitful one, as it was saturated with thrilling concerts that attracted
thousands of music lovers.
"During my tour, I did a lot of radio interviews, shows
and club performances in major cities and places. I also recorded my new CD
album called 'Wonder & Signs' comprising 14 sound tracks all recorded at
Mega Force Records, and it is due in the market next year. This company is
the first records label in Spain, but has now moved to Stuggart, Germany,"
Singateh explained.
According to him, a delegation from Mega Force Records
will arrived in the country to make a documentary film of his artistic
career and to grace the launching of his newest album.
He further revealed that he will be travelling to Spain,
France and Italy, where he will participate in other major festivals,
maintaining that he is back with full force.
The young star is currently warming up to stage a string
of concerts in the country, slated for this Friday at Lamin Willies and
Saturday at Brikama Jokor.
Backed by DJ Pisces of One-Tribe Sounds, the shows will be
Singateh's first public performances since he returned from a tour of
European countries.
Watch out for an exclusive interview with Singateh in our
coming edition.
