reiterated
that
malaria
was a
deadly
disease
in
Africa
and
urged
journalist
s to
educate
the
public
on the
dangers
of a
malaria
attack.
He said
journalists
had a
big role
to play
in the
fight
against
the
disease
and
urged
them to
report
on it
from the
village
level
through
the
cities
to all
comm u
nities.
The
former
Gambia
leader
made the
statement
when
members
of
African
Media
Malari a
Research
Network
(AMMRENT)
paid a
courtesy
call on
him at
his
residence
in
Fajara.
Sir
Dauda
urged
journalists
to
redouble
their
effort
on
reporting
on
malaria
and
other
health
issues
saying:
"Your
role is
important
as
information
is vital
in t he
fight
against
malaria
especially
in the
rural
areas
were
information
is a pro
b lem to
reach
the
people."

AMMRENT
(Gambia),
said
Gambian
journalists
were
repor
ting in
all
parts of
the
country
especially
in the
area of
health
and the
main f o
cus for
now was
malaria.
He said
the
AMMRENT
(Gambia)
was
taking
the
message
in the
fight
against
malaria
to the
doorstep
of all
Gambians
and non
Gambians.
