The Gambian Cultural Week UK (2011) By Yaram
Arts
The
Gambian Cultural Week UK 2011
The record set
by the maiden event in 2010 was Smashed
to bits. It was apparent from day-1 that the
experience Yaram Arts gained from last year was definitely going to make the
difference in the 2011 event. Hosting part of the event at the Coliseum was a
massive upgrade for the grand spectacular. The venue was fantastic and added a
new dimension and special vibe to the event. Everything went down so well, and
the massive loved it.
From the beautiful Senegambian fashion fever on the special ladies event AKA the
"Tanabirr" drum and dance. The brilliant performance by Medoune Njie/Chamma and
co drummers. The "Cassak" by Ablie Cham (Great traditional singer).
The off the hook live stage show by Salam on day-2. The much improved
performance by Gambian acts: Malik, Nas..etc. The entertainment by Dj Daffeh/Lie
Cham/JD...ect. To the Bar Service, all scored 5-starz based on our ratings.
The climax was on Sunday @ Downs Park. Huge crowd from babies to grand parents
all turned out to celebrate the SeneGambian Cultural event. There was even more
activities this year, featuring "Kankurang" for the first time, "Zimba" the hit
from last year...etc. The availability of toilets was also a great improvement.
Well done Yaram.
