Why can't we Gambians use facebook in a more useful way rather than the constant BIG UP going on. For us it's all about fashion Clothing..etc some people have even got pictures of their houses, furniture ...etc just to show off. I think we can use facebook to help raise issues affecting our very poor people back home in remote villages and try and find ways to help in our own way.

Why does it always have to be Non-Gambians who campaigne and raise money to help our people, it's a big shame. With the power of the internet today there is so much that we can do to help.

Ukgambian is a good forum but i think you can do more to help too.

xxx love u all

Helo Lilprincess24-7, you have a very nice username, why don't you start it, i think you've made some good point but don't think it's a good idea the way you want to sell it to people by telling us off first. People enjoy doing what they do on facebook, call it "Big Up" if you like but that's what they want to do so you have to respect that.

looking forward to you starting your first campaign.

What is lacking in our community is call SOLIDARITY....plus there are too many "Do nothing - spoil everything" kind of individuals who only comes alive to undermind what ever endeavors people try to action. So i thing as a community, we have a long way to go.

We all need to start doing something or more for our Country. Thanks for speaking out Lilprincess24-7, Time to Stop the foolish bragging and social network more productively , we can do with a few more people like you.

I can understand where Lilprincess24-7 is coming from, but i do have a problem with her language. It's true that we should be using facebook more productively but i think that will come through natural progression. So if you want to introduce something new all you have to do is introduce it in a nice way. There is no need for telling people off.

Totally agree with you Pa ebou it will come naturally, but i doubt if that will be soon. So may be if some of the very good commentators in this forum started it then things can happen sooner.

G-baby I respect you view point but it's never going to happen for us on FACEBOOK unless we start to encourage our people to start writing and expressing their views on issue affecting our community. We are very good at talking about negative stuff but not writing to inform and educate our pips. It's very sad that all that our people write on facebook is "nice pic" "beautiful", "Lovely" "Waw" "OMG" LOL, Gambia's national language is English so no excuse. Buy books and read to improve your writing skills. By the way how many Gambian Book writers do I know? The answer is NONE. It's a big shame really, the weapon of choice in this day and age is the Pen and the keyboard. Let us start fighting poverty, bad governments, ignorance, disease, social ills etc.

Lilprincess24-7 my sister LOL, i think it will much better if you took the lead rather than blasting people with your stinging comments. I do agree with you though that Gambians are not very keen on writing thus the lack of Gambian Book writers, but that does not mean that we are not good at writing. And just to let you know why most people only write short things like as you put it "nice pic" "beautiful", "Lovely" "Waw" "OMG" LOL" it because they don't spend much time on FACEBOOK, so i guess all they do really is catch up with as much people as they can in a limited time. Please start a topic that you would like us to debate and i can assure you my participation.

Just backing my gul, ya damn right gulfriend these pipz need some nation building leasons. I don't have a problem with the flashing and stuff cuz i'm one blinging fly-chic myself...ha ha where is my diamond ring? just got ma nails done...woyaye yoy. Ok let me focus now, on the serious note. We can have all the fun we want on FB but we need to include more wisdom sharing, u know wot i mean. Raising awearness on serious issues affecting our pips, but i guess if someone stared to campaign to raise money for charity, his/her friend will be the first to undermind the efforts. So what we need is a big mirror and maybe some make-up. Where is ma Gucci bag? c' yall

Hmm well i have a highly busy profile on facebook and am up to date with everything updating status, posting pictures and so on. facebook has helped me connect with so many people i knew back home and thats amazing ...we JOIN facebook to interact and be in our own social space..its fun it is OPTIONAL to be someones friend if you dont want to see what people are showing off in their profile DONE ADD/ACCEPT them simple..PROMOTERS ARE GOIN BIG ON FACEBOOK BECAUSE THEY WANT TO EXPAND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND GET BIG WHICH IS ALLOWED IN MY EYES SO Y U COMPLAINING? Religious groups on facebook grow bigger all the time that is goood RIGHT? IF I WON THE LOTTERY (one day lol)i will tell the whole world on FACEBOOK thats because what ever i post is on MY PROFILE that I CHOOSE TO CREAT MYSELF.
come on is a social site we are there to socialise...
however i understand the fact that people violate the use of facebook at times like chosing their status to cuss/diss and beef with people "GARUWALEH" now thats bullocks(sorry for my use of words) it shud b used for things that are more fun and interesting not a beeef site or site to post your HALF NAKED PICS THERE ARE WEBSITES FOR THAT (HEATH MAG) ! IT AINT JUST GAMBIANS THAT ARE ON FACEBOOK SO COME ON PEOPLE
before we starting pointinng at people we should make sure that our FINGERS ARE CLEAN
SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS ANYONE THO
