GAMBIA against ALGERIA match day set

African Football Confederation announced yesterday several disposals that concern the last round of Ghana 2008 qualifying. The AFC has actually decided to schedule the matches of groups 7, 8, 9 and 10 on the same day and kick off at the same hour in order to guarantee sporting ethics. The last round is crucial for the mentioned groups as qualifiers are still unknown.

An AFC statement aired on internet yesterday said that commissioners of these matches must scrupulously respect the matches’ start kick off timing and ensure that the half time period does not exceed 15 minutes. The statement added that AFC stressed on the fact that it reserves the right to amend the timing and dates of any group matches.

These measures are a response to the Algerian Football Association, FAF, which has already requested from both FIFA and AFC to set such measures which are capable of guarantying sport ethics for the crucial last round.

In this regard, the crucial match between Algeria and Gambia is to be played in the Gambian capital Banjul on Saturday September 9 at 4 pm (5 pm GMT). AFC appointed for this draw a trio referees from Benin.
