Football Confederation announced yesterday several disposals that concern
the last round of Ghana 2008 qualifying. The AFC has actually decided to
schedule the matches of groups 7, 8, 9 and 10 on the same day and kick off
at the same hour in order to guarantee sporting ethics. The last round is
crucial for the mentioned groups as qualifiers are still unknown.
An AFC statement aired on internet yesterday said that commissioners of
these matches must scrupulously respect the matches’ start kick off timing
and ensure that the half time period does not exceed 15 minutes. The
statement added that AFC stressed on the fact that it reserves the right to
amend the timing and dates of any group matches.
These measures are a response to the Algerian Football Association, FAF,
which has already requested from both FIFA and AFC to set such measures
which are capable of guarantying sport ethics for the crucial last round.
In this regard, the crucial match between Algeria and Gambia is to be played
in the Gambian capital Banjul on Saturday September 9 at 4 pm (5 pm GMT).
AFC appointed for this draw a trio referees from Benin.
